Want to help make a difference with North Raleigh Ministries?

Volunteer in the NRM Thrift Shoppe

Help sort and stock jewelry, shoes, linens, books, and clothing in our Thrift Shoppe – Stony Brook location and Harvest Plaza. We need volunteers who can commit to a minimum 4 hour volunteer shift per week.

Volunteer in the NRM Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is also looking for a processor (who can lift up to 50 lbs) on Monday’s 10am-12pm.

Please note we are currently able to accept volunteers who:

  • Are not sick.
  • Have not traveled abroad or domestically by plane, train, or bus in the past 14 days.
  • Are not part of a higher risk group of getting very sick from COVID-19. Please refer to www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/ for further guidance.

Volunteer Small Groups

Interested in volunteering with your friends or co-workers?

Join us for a morning or afternoon!

We are currently scheduling service groups to help sort and organize donations in our NRM Thrift Shoppe – Stony Brook location.  You can schedule a group for a 2-6 hour shift.

Safety is a primary focus and:

  • Groups are limited to 4-6 people.
  • We are conducting health screenings for all volunteers and staff.
  • Masks are required at all times.

Donate Sanitizing Supplies
We’re asking for donations of Hand Sanitizer, CDC Approved Disinfectant and Wipes, and Disposable Gloves to help safely reopen our Thrift Shoppe. Unsure about ingredients? Visit the CDC’s website here.

Make Cloth Masks at Home
Help make washable cloth masks from the safety of your home. NRM is in need of PPE including washable cloth masks. Masks will allow us to safely work in our food pantry and protect our clients, volunteers and staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you accept for volunteers?

We accept volunteers 11 years of age and older. Volunteers ages 11-15 years require a parent or guardian to be present while volunteering at all times.

Does NRM offer volunteer hours for Community Service?

NRM accepts court ordered, lawyer recommended, and school required community service volunteers with 20 or more service hours to complete. NRM only accepts non-violent applicants with offenses such as traffic tickets. Court ordered and lawyer recommended community service volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at all times. Applicants must be able to commit to consistent, weekly schedule.

Is there a minimum time commitment?

Yes, we ask for a 3 month commitment to a regular weekly shift. Thrift Shoppe volunteer shifts are a minimum of 4 hours. Crisis and Development Center volunteer shift times vary.
